2023-2024 Officer Core
The Officers of the Model UN Team are students elected by the team at the end of each academic year to organize and lead the next team in conferences and competitions.
President: Liam Mitchell (4th year)
Liam Mitchell is a Senior double-majoring in Biology and Biochemistry with a minor in international relations. Down the line, he plans to get a Ph.D. in Immunology and hopefully work for the World Health Organization. Fall 2023 will mark his third year on the team. Liam is also passionate about teaching and has served as the Head Supplemental Instruction Facilitator for the Chemistry and Biochemistry department. In his free time, Liam enjoys performing theater and backpacking.
Vice-President: Autumn Reid (4th year)
Autumn is a Senior majoring in Business and minoring in Public Law. She plans on going to law school after undergrad to pursue a J.D. After she finishes her degree, she plans on pursuing a career in corporate law. In her free time, she watches Hell’s Kitchen, goes for walks, and plays video games.
Secretary: Ian Hart (4th year)
Ian is a Senior at NMSU, majoring in government with a supplemental major in Law and Society. This is Ian’s second year as an NMSU Model UN team member. He joined because of his passion for solving international issues and his interest in international law. After finishing his undergrad, Ian plans on going to law school to pursue a career as a prosecutor and to study international criminal law further. Ian spends time with his cats, binge shows, and plays video games in his free time.
Treasurer: Majd Mawla (4th year)
Majd Mawla is a Senior at NMSU, double majoring in government and foreign languages and linguistics with a concentration in French and a minor in international relations. After his educational journey, Majd is interested in pursuing a career in the United Nations and diplomacy. He seeks to experience new challenges and places; he also loves traveling, learning new languages, and exploring new cultures, as evidenced by his fluency in Arabic, French, and English. Majd makes it a point to make new connections and interact with new people.
